Vermouth Amaro is based on the original recipe of Giulio Cocchi where wormwood is enriched with rhubarb, quassia wood, chiretta and a double infusion of quina. The addition of Cocchi Barolo Chinato to this base adds a real complexity and depth to this unique product. A rich and well-balanced vermouth, with just enough Amaro character. Excellent on its own and with powerful flavours to enhance cocktails.
Cocchi Vermouth Amaro is based on the styles of vermouth traditionally drunk in Turin cafés after going to the theatre, hence "Dopo Teatro".
These digestifs were usually served chilled in a small glass with just a touch of lemon zest.
Today it's also a perfect ingredient for adding a touch of bitterness to classic cocktails.
TASTING NOTES
NOSE
Rich, sweet and fruity with hints of bitter wood. Maraschino cherries and plump sultanas intertwine with burnt caramel, green twigs and pungent herbal notes, all topped with a sweet jam.
TASTE
Sweeter than the nose suggests, with rich fruit - cooked apples sprinkled with sultanas - fruitcake and intense brown sugar sweetness complemented by darker, more arid notes of tree bark, damp soil and spice - ginger, nutmeg and a hint of clove.
FINAL
Long, with a fruity sweetness slowly giving way to darker, bitter notes.
